Stearin candles Kanalljus Liljeholmens
The Kanalljus from Sweden has two special features that set it apart from the vast majority of pillar candles. Firstly, it consists of 100% stearin of animal origin and is therefore, unlike candles made from paraffin (a by-product of petroleum refining), biodegradable and dimensionally stable when exposed to heat. Stearin remains solid up to its melting point at around 55 to 70 °C and forms less soot than paraffin when burning. Secondly, the Kanalljus has four drilled channels in which excess wax, which forms mainly in drafts, can flow off, solidify and be burnt at a later time. The burning time is approx. 6.5 hours.
