Enamel: for 3,000 years. Coolicon ®: Since 1933. Famous lamps from Edinburgh.

Enameling—the process of protecting the surface of steel and iron with a thin, porcelain-like glaze that is either transparent or colored—is an ancient craft. Yet only a few companies in Europe still master the technique, and hardly any of them do so as well as Coolicon ®, where the enamel achieves an unrivaled brilliance of color—all within a typically English broad spectrum of hues, the likes of which the sun itself might only witness on a race day at Ascot when it’s outshining everything else. Their shape has remained unchanged since 1933, and the enameled steel shades have always featured a distinctive Coolicon® design element: the tapered neck of the shade is open between the socket and the dome. This was originally a thermal measure to cool the light source, but the resulting secondary upward light projection quickly became a highly prized characteristic of the Coolicon ® lamp.
Regarding the colors: out of respect, we’re using the very poetic-sounding English names, because with so much authenticity, any translation would be sacrilege.
